Why See an Audiologist?

Why See an Audiologist?

Did you know that 80% of people with a hearing loss go undiagnosed? With only 13% of physicians screening for hearing loss, it’s important to take matters into your own hands.

The audiologists at Clifton Springs Hearing Center are experts at explaining how hearing loss and hearing damage occur and the long-term impact of hearing loss. We are able to test people’s hearing and analyze their results quickly, professionally, and accurately. We also sell and service hearing instruments, and listening devices that help improve overall quality of life. We work hard to provide on-going patient care as we work with you to adjust and monitor your hearing aids to make sure you are getting the best hearing healthcare possible.

We treat a broad spectrum of hearing problems from the inability to hear in crowds, dizziness and trouble hearing high pitched sounds to ringing in the ears (Tinnitus).

If you suspect that you have a hearing loss, take this simple test to help you find out.

  • Do you have difficulty understanding what is being said, unless you are directly facing the speaker?
  • Do you find yourself complaining that people are mumbling?
  • Do you continually ask people to repeat words or phrases?
  • Do you prefer the TV or radio louder than others do?
  • Do you have difficulty understanding conversation within a group of people?
  • Do you avoid group meetings, social occasions, public facilities, or family gatherings where listening may be difficult?
  • Do you have trouble hearing at the movies, house of worship, concert halls, or at other public areas?
  • Do you have ringing in the ears or other head noises (hissing, buzzing, crickets, etc.)? This may be caused by Tinnitus which often accompanies hearing loss.

If you answered yes to 2 or more of these questions, you may have a hearing loss and should be evaluated by an audiologist.
